Grande Simone

This is email is from Simone, from Italy, from the land of Julio Cesar, La Ciciolina, Eros Ramazzotti, Da Vinci, Fo, Fellini, Pasolini, Humberto Eco, Baco, Moro and of course, Papi. This latino has "huevos" my friends and deserves all my respect (Simone, I'll email you next week a complete answer to your email and the past phone calls):

Dear Juan,

I was checking on internet if your email was the right one because I got an error message from the system and, searching on the web, I come to see your blog, Wine and Fury, and I read the post speaking about me (well, I think..).
You're absolutely right, Italy nowadays doesn't have a good image all over the world and I'm afraid of it, a lot of people are sick of what's going on and I'm more afraid that things are not going to change, at least not now.
You're also right about building a commercial relationship on the internet or with a phone calls, I think too that even in commerce the relations between people is far more important than the mere gain of money.

We're thousand of miles away each other, it's not so simple to meet, but anyway I'll be really glad to host you here and let you know us and see what is our winery.
It's made of people, first of all. It's a coop society and it's based on the people. The members of the coop are farmer who, maybe for their third or fourth generation, are producing grapes and wine. The area where we are, the countryside of Tollo, is well known in Italy for producing wine since the Middle Age. We suffered great damages after the Second World War (this place is called "the D-Day for Canadians", because hundreds of them died in going ashore near Ortona) but they had the strenght to start again cultivating and producing.
Cantina Tollo born in 1960, the period in which Italy started to live again after the War. Since them a lot of thing changed, quality as become the focus, and the member grow from 12 to about 1000 at the moment. But the growth, the prizes all over the world (just to quote someone, the Cantina dell'Anno 2008 from the Almanacco del Berebene del Gamber Rosso in 2008 or the Decanter Trophy in London in 2008) has not changed the mind of the people living and working here.

I think we share some belief thinking that you buy the person near a product, we want you to buy our products because of the product and because of us, but also because you and us can trust each other and the mutual work can make the both of us living better.

Sorry if I introduced us in that way and for being so lenghty now, I just wanted to let you know a little bit more about us and please don't let us pay the fault of a person (namely, Papi) we have to share nothing with.

Un cordial saludo,

Simone Di Domizio
